The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Designer to use their skills and knowledge to help improve and shape experiences for a large organisation in Dunedin. You will be responsible for bringing extensive experience of service design thinking and advice to a number of key projects. You’ll work to ensure that complete end-to-end services are considered holistically (frontstage and backstage), including evaluating and articulating clearly how services need to be developed or changed from a user centred, system, and business perspective.

The role offers the opportunity to work with stakeholders across the organisation to influence decisions based on human-centric design priorities. You’ll have the ability to coach, influence and educate stakeholders including executive leaders. With this in mind, you’ll need to be adept in design thinking and articulating customer needs. You’ll translate user stories and propose design approaches, solutions and services to meet these needs.

Essential Skills:
  • Strong record of experience and success across Service Design projects
  • Experience with design strategy, design research, and/or experience design
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders across an organization to influence decisions based on human-centric design priorities
  • Innovative, experimental approach to service design tools and techniques
  • Adept with system thinking as well as detailed service prototyping and/or system architecture mapping;
  • Track record across user research, facilitation, user/client interviews, rapid prototyping, usability testing
  • Experience creating service design maps, journeys, concept sketches and storyboards, personas, and basic prototypes
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate the value of a design choice to clients/users.
  • Solutions focused mind-set 
  • Demonstrated agility in responding to changes in priorities
